A Tanker loaded with Fuel Crashed Opposite Imo State Government House
There was no any reported incident of death or casualty after a petrol tanker lost it break and crashed at Okigwe Road round about opposite Imo State Government house Owerri.
The crash happened about 6.30pm on Monday and the 48-year-old male driver of the car suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital in a critical condition. The ever busy junction which gives access to Bank road was closed and has not been reopened.
“The tanker carrying 33,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit was coming from Okigwe to discharge its product in Owerri before it lost break and crashed Opposite Governemnt house, beside 3 star, popular Rock View Hotel Owerri.
The incident was said to have been caused by a gridlock on the junction where many traffic wardens were seen diverting cars unprofessionally.
An eye witness, however, added that operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), State Fire Service and the Nigeria Police were on ground to manage the traffic, Petroleum news reports.
At a prayer meeting of Christian Association of Nigeria Imo State chapter, held at Imo International Convention Center, Government house chaplain, who took the bible reading, attributed the tanker incident as a ‘Special Miracle’ owning to the fact that there was no explosion.
The Governor who was present with his son in-law, Uche Nwosu and members of his cabinet including the speaker Imo State house of Assembly, urged the clergy and member of CAN to intensify prayers for the State. The Governor who claimed to have been ordained a priest by God recounted his achievements as Governor of Imo State and solicits support and prayers from the Church.
